The Certificate Course in Group Therapy is a 12-hour specialized program designed for mental health practitioners and students who want to learn how to run effective, ethical therapy groups. This course equips you with the practical and clinical skills needed to bring people together, build trust, and guide them toward growth and healing.
You will learn to create a safe and supportive group environment using globally recognized therapeutic models, including Yalom’s therapeutic factors and Tuckman’s stages of group development. The program covers client screening, managing conflict and difficult members, leadership styles, and working in the “here-and-now,” along with adaptations for specialized groups such as trauma-informed, substance abuse, and multicultural settings.
Upon completion, you will be confident in using evidence-based group techniques, from pre-group preparation to Ethics, Confidentiality, and Termination, to help members build connection, improve interpersonal skills, and make lasting change.
